This Assessment is designed to test the knowledge that you have acquired throughout the unit so far. Use the following tips to help you answer the questions:

Your answers & assessment submission must professional in style (Business), content and format. Evidence of the ability to:

– develop draft design specifications for digital simulations that are clear, detailed and technically feasible

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
– describe typical formats and documentation for presenting simulation designs
– outline a range of authoring tools used for digital simulations
– describe the ways in which algorithms, laws, rules and mathematical formulas can represent real world processes
– outline intellectual property rights and how these are managed in design of digital simulations.
Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to:
– briefs for digital simulations on which designs can be based
– facilities and resources to develop design simulations.

You are part of a production team that work for a famous company that create digital simulations. You have been tasked with a new marketing idea to design a digital simulation.
You are to design a digital simulation of your choice using your own imagination. The delivery platforms for your games that you are to generate ideas which can be;
- digital television set
- games console
- mobile phone
- personal digital assistant (PDA)
- other wireless/mobile devices.
Note: This is only the idea for the designing of the digital simulation not the actual creation of the simulation itself.
Minutes of meeting is required if this assessment is done as part of a team effort.

You can alternatively use Anylogic Software to view a simulation to help you determine type of simulation idea you want to show.
Final Assessment Task – Draft and Finalise Simulation Documents and Present
- Identify processes that determine the functional behaviour of your simulation – refer to functionality fidelity in A3 point 12 as well as the list of processes above.
- Specify how this behaviour is to be represented by control objects within your simulation. Refer to the list of control objects above.
- Define the underlying functionality in a model that specifies essential settings, states, conditions and parameters – underlying functionality could be in regards to a simulation of a conveyor belt and the way it obtains boxes and gets moved through a factor.
- Specify user interface controls that enable users to interact with simulations – this is how is it going to look to the user when they use your simulation. Is it going to have an buttons. Refer to this image below;
- Identify critical impacts, alerts or costs for incorrect user operation – this is in regards to what happens if you get the simulation wrong (similar to dying in a game), the alerts and the cost for incorrect user operation.
Final Assessment Task – Create Presentation
- Create a presentation of your design idea and obtain positive and negative feedback to your Class- Mates responses when interacting with simulations.
- Confirm proposed simulation is technically achievable, in consultation with relevant personnel and the trainers/class-mates feedback from your presentation.
- Present clear and detailed draft simulation design specifications in a format that can be used for discussion to obtain feedback from other team members and implement into your presentation
Final Assessment Task – Questionnaire
- Create a feedback questionnaire to hand out to other students when displaying your presentation to obtain feedback. Ensure your questionnaire has been printed and handed out to all students
- Review designs against required project outcomes and performance objectives – review your project brief against the performance objectives to determine that it covers what you initial want as your simulation.
- Review your simulation design against the creative, technical and intellectual property requirements.
- Adjust your simulation design specifications as necessary after discussions with relevant personnel, students, trainers from your feedback and the presentation of your design.
- Archive user interface controls for other projects – determine how would this be done via researching.
